Dr. Himal Luitel

Dr. Luitel is an Associate Professor at the Center for Biotechnology, Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU), Rampur, Chitwan, Nepal. He holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) from Tribhuvan University, a Master of Science in Molecular Biology from a prestigious interuniversity program in Belgium, and a PhD in Molecular Biology and Medicine of the Lungs from Justus-Liebig University, Giessen, Germany. He further honed his expertise through postdoctoral research at the Excellence Cluster Cardio-Pulmonary System in Germany.

Dr. Luitel's research focuses on molecular pathomechanisms of pulmonary hypertension, molecular diagnostics of poultry diseases, wildlife genetics, vaccinology, and nanotechnology in disease diagnostics. He has played a pivotal role at AFU in establishing state-of-the-art facilities for molecular biology, microbiology, and animal experimentation. He has also led collaborative projects on wildlife conservation genetics in Nepal, funded by organizations such as USAID and WWF.

His expertise includes advanced molecular biology techniques, in vivo experiments with small animals, bioinformatics, and recombinant DNA technology. Dr. Luitel is dedicated to advancing veterinary and biotechnology research in Nepal while fostering national and international collaborations.
